Kids helping Kids

The 3rd grade class at Good Shepherd School and Ms Maria heard through one of our volunteers, Shannon Heck, that we had been focusing heavily on literacy. She told them about some of the challenges they faced and how books have became our number one request.

After hearing that, the Good Shepherd students decided to put together a very special project for our youth. A Book Drive!

The students wrote to companies and businesses, explaining what they were doing, and gathering up books for our youth. Here is one of the letters they wrote:

The result was astounding!

Thank you so much to the 3rd graders at Good Shepherd School, Ms Maria, and Shannon Heck!!

We are definitely going to need a lot more bookshelves. What a great problem to have!

I encourage everyone to read. Read as a family, read out-loud, read right before bed instead of electronics, read during lunch. This is one of the most important academic skills we can possess, because if we can read and write fluently, we can learn anything!
